Alice started playing cello at age ten. After getting a classical grounding, she drifted into other musical realms, playing and recording with Melbourne-Cretan band, the Xylouris Ensemble, for 20 years, before joining Euphonia (a contemporary and Irish music trio) with sisters Dee and Mairead Hannan. These bands taught her to move off the page, improvise and be ready for anything (pretty much). 

Alice gigs regularly with acoustic outfit Sunshine Tip, playing locally-rooted alternative country; and plays with Sally Ford and the Idiomatics, bringing strings to their melancholic electronica. Alice loves slide nights.

Simon's been writing, recording and playing with his band Pony Face since 2008.

Vast, gentle, drowsy, swampy, spaced-out, moody, hand-on-heart, droney, weirder, wilder: ten descriptions of the Pony Face sound from a Beat Magazine review of their album, Hypnotised. 

Simon’s latest solo release is Moonscapes, an album of instrumentals, all soundtracks to cinema in development. He describes it as "guitar minimalism and tones that evolve into slow-motion euphoric narratives". 

Simon’s first appearance at Slide Nights was sold out.

Grace is a Naarm/Melbourne-based instrumentalist, composer, and educator working across classical and contemporary traditions. Her practice examines layered perceptions of time and the relationship between intention, improvisation, and what remains beyond control. 

This will be Grace’s first performance at No-Context Slide Nights and is sure to be unforgettable.
